Bhopal. The election campaign for the by-elections of Budhni and Vijaypur assembly which is going to be held in the state came to a halt this evening and the leaders and workers of both the parties started knocking from door to door. In the last fortnight, senior leaders of both the parties have sweated in these areas. Despite this the voter has not broken his silence. Now on the voting day itself, 13th November, the voter will seal his/her decision in the EVM.
In fact, the by-elections of Budhni and Vijaypur assembly are very important for both the parties for their own reasons. Perhaps this is the reason why no stone was left unturned in the campaign. However, big leader of Chambal-Gwalior Jyotiraditya Scindia did not come to campaign in Vijaypur. Kamal Nath also did not go to Vijaypur. Although he had come to Budhni for a day. Other regional leaders left no stone unturned. Especially from BJP side, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, State President Vishnudatt Sharma, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and from Congress side, State President Jitu Patwari, former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, state in-charge Jitendra Bhanwar Singh devoted their entire time to these elections.
However, as the election campaign progressed, the allegations and counter-allegations also increased. Almost every day the Congress made some complaint to the Election Commission. Some were also implemented. Efforts are still being made to remove some but now the election is in the final stages. The election campaign ended at 5:00 pm today and now the round of door-to-door knocking has begun. Voter slips will be distributed. Polling agents will be decided but the biggest concern of the parties is what preparations the voter has made and whose button his index finger will press in front of the EVM when he goes to the polling station on November 13.
Although both BJP and Congress are claiming their respective victories, the way the issues were raised at the last moment and the caste calculations were made, the confusion kept increasing. Initially, BJP was talking about repeating the 2023 election results in Budhni Assembly, but by the time of voting day, there is talk of victory and not of difference. Similarly, in Vijaypur assembly constituency, where Congress was expecting victory on the basis of caste equations, BJP used all its strength to change the caste equations in its favor. Despite this, now both the parties are hopeful of achieving victory in the consolidation of castes.
Overall, the election campaign for the by-elections of Budhni and Vijaypur assembly may stop today but the heartbeats of the candidates will increase. Only the charisma of booth management will take you to the threshold of victory. Preachers are present everywhere. External campaigners will be thrown out of the area this evening and the election campaign will be successful only on the strength of local workers.
