Former BJP MP and former president of Wrestling Federation of India Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is not ready to listen to the top leaders of his party. Informed sources say that he has been explained by the party at least twice not to say anything against the Olympic wrestlers, especially Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik. But he is not following this instruction. Party’s national president JP Nadda spoke to him on the telephone and asked him to keep quiet. Even the state leaders of Haryana openly expressed displeasure and said that his statements can harm the BJP in the elections because after being wrongly disqualified in the Olympics, there is sympathy among the common people and especially women towards Vinesh Phogat. Therefore, statements against her will cause harm in the entire state.
But Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has his own problems. He is more concerned about the politics of the All India Wrestling Federation than the politics of the BJP. He got his son Karan Singh elected as an MP and his close aide Sanjay Singh is the president of the Wrestling Federation. But if Congress wins in Haryana and Vinesh Phogat gets a place in the government, then she can influence the politics of the Wrestling Federation. At first Brij Bhushan said that Vinesh Phogat had gone to the Olympics in a wrong way. On this, he was asked to keep quiet but he then said that if the BJP high command says, he will campaign against Vinesh Phogat and others in Haryana. After this, he was silenced again but he said that just as the Pandavas had staked Draupadi in the Mahabharata, in the same way Congress has staked Vinesh and Bajrang. Then Nadda called and asked him to keep quiet. Now it remains to be seen for how many days he remains silent.
