Addressing the Protection Council on Wednesday, the UN’s top ambassador to South Sudan said that the country is entering the “extended change period” this month.
To end the war of the year, a three -year end deadline was set for elections and for the formation of a democratic government, through the revival peace agreement signed in 2018. This goal of changing power in the country has been raised four times, where the quality of major political, protection and administration has been incomplete.
Under the latest expansion announced in September 2021, a general election was proposed in December 2026.
Waiting for progress
On Wednesday, UN General Secretary Nicholas Haysam’s Special Representative, providing information to the Protection Council, emphasized that the people of the country did not give up patience, but they expect progress.

The goal of human needs and 2025 supporting action is to provide life -efficient assistance to 54 million people, but the lack of religion remains a serious challenge.
The United Nations is applying for $ 1.7 billion assistance to meet immediate demand this year.

This mission has been requested to empty a portion of its headquarters within 45 days from the government.
