Application for intervention for completion of the crisis in the east part of the DRC

The UN general secretary Anantonio Gutresh made this special appeal for peace before the Rwanda -backed armed team proposed to discuss the brutal attacks run by M32 on Thursday in New York.

“We all need an active and creative role in the neighboring countries, sub -aggressive organizations, African unions and the United Nations.”

Thousands of people have died and have been displaced

The eastern region of the DRC is rich in minerals and other natural resources and has been in conflict and war for decades. It is alleged that more than 100 armed groups are active in the region.

In January, the fight between the armed party, known as the M3 and the Congal Sarkar, increased. The rebels occupied the regional capital, and then located the south, and moved to the city of Bookabu, the capital of southern Kivu province.

Thousands of people have been killed in the clash, including women and children so far. Millions of people have been forced to leave their homes to protect.

“We are also looking at constant danger by other armed groups, whether they are from Congo or foreigners. All these development and activities are very damaged by other armed groups.”

Human rights abuse and harassment

The UN general secretary mentions numerous human rights violations, including sexual and gender -based violence, forcibly appointing people for use and obstruction of life -saving support.

He said that the situation of the people around it was dangerous. Now millions of people are migrating, many old places to keep displaced people in the north of the city are now looted, destroyed or abandoned.

Also, healthcare facilities are broken and other basic services including school, water, electricity, phone lines and internet are seriously limited.

Fear of widespread threats

He cautioned that in the meantime, the war on the southern Kevu continued, which is at risk of surrounding the entire region. “

The general secretary paid homage to all those who died in the crisis. These include peacekeepers and the UN mission in the country -Mamsko regional forces.

He also expressed solidarity with the people of Congo, “Those who are again trapped in the endless cycle of violence.”

‘Silence of the gun’

East African communities and South African block SADC leaders will attend a summit in Tanzania on Friday to discuss the DRC crisis.

Antonio Gutresh told reporters, “The summit is being launched in Tanzania and … my message is clear.”

“Spread the guns. Prevent stress from growing. Respect the sovereignty and regional integrity of the Congo Democratic Republic. Maintain International Human Rights Law and International Human Law.”

‘Time of peace’

The UN chief confirmed that the crisis has no military solution. He said that the DRC and all the countries that signed with peace, protection and cooperation for the region have come to respect their promise.

“It’s time to mediate. This is the time to end this crisis. It is in peace. Many things are at risk.”

The purpose of the 25 documents signed by 5 countries is to end the continuous cycle of conflict and violence in the East DRC.
