The current campaign is sequel to promoting polio vaccine in the previous year, where millions of young children’s vaccines were abolished.
In Gaza recently, the polio virus was found in the waste water sample, which shows that it spreads, causing children to be at risk of polio infection.
The campaign is led by the Palestinian Health Ministry and the campaign is being implemented in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), UN Palestinian Refugee Organization – UNRWA and other partners.
UNRW’s Mahayat Philip Lazarini writes in a social media post that 1 thousand 700 members posted at health centers and the mobile units of the agency are participating in the campaign.
UN agencies say that the total 1,660 teams in the campaign feed the polio vaccine, where UNRW’s health teams are one -third of the entire publication, which is 555.
Health workers will provide polio vaccine at the UNRWA 10 Health Center. The number of these health centers – one Rafah, three in Khan Unis and three in the middle area and one health center north is located in Gaza City.
About 60 mobile medical units in UNRW will also damage children’s polio conservation vaccine.
This campaign will run until February 26.
