Sudan: In the heavy destruction of the swims, concerns about the situation of ordinary citizens

In Sudan, Mohammed Shafat, head of the IOM mission, said it was almost impossible to go before the violence. At present, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has again taken control of the country’s capital Khartum.

In April 2023, ordinary citizens suffered from the SAF and paramilitary forces quickly in the Assistant Force (RSF). In recent weeks, there was a deadly violent conflict in the surrounding areas of the capital Khartom, which was occupied by the RSF.

Mission Chief Barfat said that he was also shocked to see the level of destruction in the city. There, “Power stations have been looted; water pipes are destroyed and I’m not just talking about a few places. I’m talking about all the places where I went.”

He said that despite the experience of working in other war situations, including Libya and Yemen, the devastation of Khartoum was unimaginable.

He said, “People’s houses not only noticed, the administrative zone, the military and all infrastructure that is important for human life.”

He said that after almost two years of war, Sudani returned to the capital, to help everyone, a large size would be required to invest.

Sight

Mission Chief Barfat mentioned his meeting with a veteran mathematics teacher (SARA), who could not go anywhere else during the violence. He spent his days in fear, he lost his loved ones, found the houses destroyed and surrounded by permanent threats of violence and sexual exploitation.

He said, “The whole thing has decided to stay compulsory. Walking on foot was dangerous and challenging for a senior woman and there is no other way.”

In the absence of funds, many non -government agencies have stopped working or their work has been reduced. He said that there are many other people like Sara who did not receive any help.

Mission Chief Refat said, “Not only the member states, but the money received from the immigrants and the philanthropic institution is finished … there is an immediate need for more financial support for drugs, shelter, drinking water, education and healthcare.

This year, IOM has applied $ 25 million to assist about 17 million people in Sudan, but so far less than 10 percent of the funds have been received.

Complex, challenging situation

UN spokesperson Stepan Duji Duji has expressed concern that government forces are fleeing from the city for fear of violence and jurisdiction after establishing control over the capital.

According to the United Nations Assistance Coordination Office (OCHA), last week, about five thousand displaced people reached Cordophan’s compulsory Al Sheikh, most of them residents of the sword. These families require immediate food, clean water, shelter and health system.

Mission Chief Refat said that the “complex and challenging” situation remained throughout the country, “in some places ordinary people are going to protect them and trying to return to their homes elsewhere, where basic services have been broken.

“… we have reminded all the parties under international human law, allowing the needy, unnecessary and fair humanitarian assistance under international human law, and their legal obligation to facilitate them under international human law.”
