Sudan: After the beginning of violence in North Darfur, millions of people displace

Due to the fatal attacks on Jamjam and Abu Shaka refugee camps, the already displaced 1.5 million refugees, including Al-Fashar, the capital of northern Darfur, have been forced to be displaced again.

According to the UN Humanist Coordinating Office in Sudan, many of these people are moving towards Tawila City, Jebel Hill regions or other remote areas, where they will stay away from healthcare, clean water and food assistance.

On Sunday, humanitarian coordinator Clamenin NKTA-Salary said in a statement, “The people’s immigration is taking place in a very unstable and unexpected way, and the possibility of continuous war and extensive attack on Al-Fashar has occurred faster in displacement.”

He said, “Recently, direct attack on internal displaced persons and human workers is a serious violation of human rights that cannot be accepted under any circumstances. Citizens should not be noticed.”

Increase the crisis

Earlier this month, this new series began to displace, with the new wave of violence.

A large number of ordinary citizens were killed in the attacks in Jamjam, Abu Shobha and other close areas, including Al-Fashar, the capital of the northern Darfur province of the country. Children and humanitarian workers were also included among the casualties.

At present, Sudan’s situation remains one of the largest humanitarian crises in the world.

About 120 million people were displaced in the clash between Sudan’s Armed Forces and the paramilitary forces (RSF) in April 2021, of which 1 million people fled and were forced to seek shelter in neighboring countries.

Thousands of people have died in this violence, especially the Darfur region affected.

Deprived of relief assistance

Clemented NKTA-Senant warned that the situation became more complicated by the increase in food insecurity, and the displaced population was fleeing with supply chains and relief assistance.

The prevalence of epidemics, malnutrition and famine is also increasing.

He said that due to the fight in Al-Fasser and the surrounding areas, support efforts are facing ‘serious obstacles’.

Through the humanitarian structure established in the region, he reclaimed the call to ensure that the supply of support continued to reach.

In addition to access related problems, the global cuts with financial support for humanitarian assistance are also at risk of important life -saving programs.

“The humanitarian system is currently under extreme pressure,” the Clementine NKTita-Slammy said.

He has applied for donors to increase their advance support, so that it can be used according to the situation.

He said, “It is important to continue promoting financing, initial steps, life -sacrificing supplies and emergency response.”

Communal conflict

Meanwhile, the inter-social conflict crisis in West Darfur has increased.

Another report from the United Nations International Migration Organization (IOM) reported that at least 66 families were displaced from the Jebel Moon region last week after the attack on the indigenous people.

The agency said, “Things are still changing in exciting and unexpected ways.”

Many displaced people crossed the border and went to Chad. IOM says that it is difficult to guess the exact number of them because of security restrictions.
