Several companies have been rescued in Libya, 'ensures our horrible fears' - Human Rights Head

High Commissioner Turk said, “Our deepest fears seem to be true now. Many companies have been found from these centers.

The centers from which these companies found in Libya are operated by local armed groups, which were given the responsibility of maintaining protection in the capital Tripoli.

At the United Nations, Libya Aid Mission (Unsmill) and independent human rights experts have expressed suspicion of torture in these places and forcibly disappear.

Bholkar Turk has demanded sealing these centers and operating forensic checks, so that criminals can be identified and their accountability decision can be made.

Libya has been facing unrest for the last five years when the Muammar Gaddafi government collapsed in the 21st and two rival administrative systems: United Nations and the government’s national stability in the United Nations Tripoli is recognized by the Government (GNS).

The United Nations made several efforts to unite the country and move towards democratic rule, but they failed so far.

More than 5 bodies are healed

In May, the clash between the armed party and the government security forces began after the death of the armed party chief Abdul Ghani al-Kikali. Protests took place in Tripoli to protest against violence, where citizens died and damaged infrastructure including hospitals.

After the violence, 10 burnt bodies were recovered from the headquarters of the party located in Abu Selim. In addition to these, 67 67 bodies were found at Abu Selim and Al-Khudra Hospital, which was found in the hospital referees.

The UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) also said that a grave was also found at the Tripoli Zoo run by the armed party. Currently the bodies could not be detected.

Violation of human rights

This is not the first time in Libya that the combined grave has been found. In February, two mass tombs were found in Jakhrah and al-Kufra areas, including 10 and 93 bodies, respectively.

Many of these organizations were included in the risk of human trafficking, forced disappearance and murder.

According to the International Migration Organization (IOM), in 2021, Libya has reported the death or disappearance of more than a thousand immigrants.

The Human Rights High Commissioner, not only expressed concern over the recently found companies and human rights violations in Tripoli, but also condemned the use of additional forces during the late last month.

Settled

Internationally -recognized national UNity Kay government in Tripoli has announced the formation of two committees to investigate human rights violations by the Government Security Forces.

Although the OHCR chief praised the initiative, the officers associated with the forensic investigation were not allowed to visit these places, which are obstructing the proofs protecting them.

He appealed to the Libyan administration that the recently available sites should be sealed immediately and the process of determining accountability will be given priority. “The responsible for this heinous crime should be called by international standards without any delay.”

The Human Rights High Commissioner further requested that all the concerned parties were committed to the attempt to lead Libya to inclusive democracy again, so that this temporary agreement could be canceled.

He said, “Libyan people clearly demanded truth and justice. They are aspirants of such a peaceful and safe life where human rights and freedom are in the most important place.”
