New Delhi. Heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for the next few days in the national capital and parts of central, northwest and northeastern parts of the country. The Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Friday. The Meteorological Department has today issued a red alert for extremely heavy rains in Uttarakhand and a yellow alert for very heavy to very heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. According to the department, this change in weather is influenced by a pressure that developed in central India and moved towards Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD said that the depression over central Uttar Pradesh is expected to move northeastwards and gradually weaken into a distinct low-pressure area within the next 12 hours. The IMD has forecast a low-pressure area over coastal Bangladesh and adjoining north Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours. The department said that it is then expected to move slowly west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over coastal West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) have been receiving continuous light rain since yesterday evening, bringing down the temperature and air quality level in the city. According to the Meteorological Department, drizzle is expected to continue in the region with generally cloudy skies tomorrow.
