Thousands of people have arrived at Cox’s Bazaar market in Bangladesh in search of armed conflicts and rapid violence in Myanmar.
Nearly one million Rohinja refugees are already living in densely populated camps.
“This is the largest immigrant among the Rohingya refugees who have arrived in Bangladesh since 2017,” UNHCR spokesman Babur Baloch told reporters in Geneva on Friday.
He made it clear that about 7 million Rohingya escaped after the severe violence in Rakhin province, on the contrary, the number of refugees reaching Bangladesh from Myanmar to Bangladesh has gradually increased.
Will be given shelter to the rights
UNHCR is working closely with local officials of Bangladesh to meet the immediate humanitarian needs of these refugees.
Babur Baloch said, “Violence and conflict continues in Myanmar, so we have advised these people, protection and shelter, escape from Bangladeshi officials, providing regulatory access to escape violence.”
Bangladesh has long been providing shelter to the Rohinjay people, which is a minority community in Myanmar and is basically Buddhist.
Currently, about one million people in the country are living in refugee camps and resources are getting further pressure due to increasing refugees. There are many women and children among them.
Many people are highly dependent on local assistance and living with limited resources with people living in camps.
The amount of help is required
UNHCR spokesman Babur Baloch said that around 1 lakh 21 thousand new refugees were registered in late June. However, it is believed that many more people are living informally in camps.
The availability of adequate shelter remains a lot of concern because the burden of adjusting the new population to the benefits is increasing.
Babur Baloch said, “These new refugees have already joined about one million Rohingya refugees living in a high crowd in the area of 20 sq km. There is an instant need for more humanitarian assistance.”
Support partner agencies have been able to provide primary services including food, treatment, education and essential relief materials. However, this assistance is now in serious danger due to lack of funds.
The UNHCR warns that $ 250 million dollars for 2021 have been obtained in response to humanitarian assistance, only 35 percent of the amount has been obtained. If instant financial assistance is not available, the whole promotion can be destroyed.
