Chandigarh. There was already rebellion going on within the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana over ticket distribution and now a senior leader has put the party in trouble by claiming the post of Chief Minister. Former Haryana Home Minister and Ambala Cantt BJP candidate Anil Vij on Sunday claimed the post of Chief Minister. However, soon after this, the party’s election in-charge and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan rejected his claim and said that the party is contesting the elections on the face of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and he will become the CM after the elections.
Before this, Anil Vij held a press conference on Sunday. In this, he listed the works done by him as MLA and minister. Vij said- I am the most senior leader. I will stake claim to become the Chief Minister on the basis of my seniority. Whether the party makes me or not, it is their decision. Before Vij, Gurugram MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh has also staked his claim for the post of Chief Minister. However, much before the announcement of the elections, in June itself, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced contesting the Haryana Assembly elections on the face of Nayab Saini in Panchkula.
However, in a press conference on Sunday, Vij said- People are coming from all over Haryana. Wherever I went, people are saying that you are senior, why did you not become CM? On their demand, I will stake claim to become the Chief Minister on the basis of my seniority. Whether the party makes me or not, it is their decision. Vij further said- I have not asked for any post till date, but today I am staking claim. If the party makes me CM, I will change the fate of Haryana, I will change its picture.
It is worth mentioning that before the Lok Sabha elections this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party had removed Manohar Lal Khattar and made Nayab Saini the Chief Minister of Haryana. Even then, Anil Vij was upset with Saini’s coronation. His displeasure was clearly visible in many meetings. It is worth noting that by making a leader from the backward community the Chief Minister instead of Punjab, the BJP has tried to appease the backward community, which has more than 30 percent of the population.
