How successful will the experiment of changing the CM be?

The million dollar question is how successful will Arvind Kejriwal’s experiment of changing the Chief Minister be? Only BJP tried this experiment in Delhi and it failed. Although this experiment of BJP was successful in many states, it was not successful in Delhi. That is why the Congress, which came to power after that, did not try any such experiment. Sheila Dikshit was kept as the Chief Minister for 15 consecutive years and finally lost to power in such a way that it could not even open its account in two elections. Anyway, after the assembly elections started in Delhi, BJP came to power in the first election in 1993 and made Madan Lal Khurana the Chief Minister. Later, when Khurana’s name came in the Hawala diary, he was removed and Sahib Singh Verma was made the CM and three-four months before the 1998 assembly elections, Verma was removed and Sushma Swaraj was made the CM.

When BJP made Sushma Swaraj the CM, it was called a big masterstroke. She also showed a lot of activism and it seemed that this move of BJP would be successful. But she lost the election. And since then till date BJP has not been able to win the assembly election in the last 26 years. That is why questions are being raised on how effective Kejriwal’s move of changing the Chief Minister four months before the election will be. It can also be a coincidence that they make a woman Chief Minister like BJP did in 1998.

So, the question is whether Delhi’s history will repeat itself or will Kejriwal change it? However, he does not want to let the new Chief Minister stay on the throne for too long. That is why he is demanding early elections. But the problem in this is that even if the cabinet under the command of the new Chief Minister decides to dissolve the assembly, there will still be suspense whether the Lieutenant Governor accepts it. The question is also that when the elections are to be held in February and the voter list has to be revised by January, then why will the Election Commission hold elections two months in advance?
