Adam Zampa will play his 100th match in ODI format

New Delhi. The first match of Australia’s upcoming ODI series will be played against England at Trent Bridge on 19 September. In this match, Adam Zampa will play his 100th match in this format. On getting close to achieving this feat, Zampa said that he never thought that he would be able to play so many matches in ODIs for his country. He will become the 32nd Australian male player to play 100 ODIs. Also, after Shane Warne and Brad Hogg, he will become only the third specialist spinner to achieve this feat for Australia. On this special occasion, his wife Harriet, son Eugene and parents Darren and Alison will be present at Trent Bridge. Talking to cricket.com.au, Zampa said, I am proud to play 100 ODIs. I never thought that I would play so much for Australia.

When you see how many ODIs people play nowadays, very few people get to play 100 matches. In the 1990s and early 2000s, there was definitely a lot more ODI cricket played and there were no T20 matches. I am getting close to playing 200 international matches (191) overall, so I did not expect to play so much. In 99 ODIs, the Australian has taken 169 wickets at an average of 28.05 and an economy rate of 5.47. Although Jampa has been a T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup winner for Australia in 2021 and 2023 respectively, he said that the desire to win more World Cups is still inside him. Especially his full focus is on the Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
