Tehran. 10 people have died and 36 others were injured when a bus overturned in Iran’s Yazd province. Iran’s traffic police chief Hassan Momeni said the incident occurred near Saghand village in Ardakan County at 2:20 am local time on Tuesday. The accident occurred when the bus deviated from the main road and went onto a mining access road and overturned. Momeni said the bus was going from the southern Iranian province of Bushehr to the northeastern city of Mashhad when the accident occurred. The injured have been shifted to medical centers in Yazd. He said the reasons for the accident are not yet known. Something can be said about this only after investigation.

Talking to Iran’s Students News Agency, Mohammad Ishqi, Managing Director of Yazd’s Red Crescent Society, said that there were 51 people on the bus, out of which five were not injured. Earlier on August 31, a bus carrying pilgrims from Iran to Iraq met with a road accident in Yazd city. 28 Pakistani citizens were killed in the accident. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Mudassir Tipu had said in a post on X, “28 Pakistani pilgrims died in a road accident in Yazd city late Tuesday night during a religious journey. Other 23 people are injured. The accident took place about 700 km from the Pakistani Embassy in the Iranian capital Tehran.
