What is the biggest achievement of Aam Aadmi Party in 10 years? Are the alleged works done in the field of education and health an achievement or is it the provision of free electricity and water? The narrative from Arvind Kejriwal’s release from jail to his resignation and appointment as the new Chief Minister is about providing free and cheap electricity and water. Aam Aadmi Party is only promoting this. Every leader of the party is saying that Kejriwal has provided free electricity and water and if BJP comes to power, it will stop providing free electricity and water. BJP has also opposed this and has tried to say that even if its government is formed, the scheme of free electricity and water will continue.
Think about it, can elections be held on this issue in the capital of any country of the world or can a party ruling for 10 years tell in the name of achievement that it is giving 200 units of electricity and 21 thousand liters of water free every month and hence people should vote for it? Can it be the achievement of the government of the capital city that it is providing 24 hours electricity? Now even the remote forest areas of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have 24 hours electricity. Then what kind of achievement is this? Delhi is in the second place in the country in terms of paying the highest per capita tax but the achievement of the government here in 10 years is that it is giving cheap or free electricity for 24 hours! This is shameful. People of Delhi are facing traffic problems, water accumulates even with a little rain, dengue and malaria have spread like an epidemic due to dirt and from next month people will start suffocating due to pollution, Yamuna flows in the middle of the city, which looks like a drain, the cleaning of which was promised with much fanfare 10 years ago. Instead of fixing all these, the government’s achievement is to provide free electricity and water. There has been no qualitative change in the education and health system as compared to 2014. Some schools have been painted and some new classrooms have been added and a few new hospitals have been built.
