Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had already positioned himself as a Hanuman devotee against BJP’s Ram Mandir movement and Jai Shri Ram slogan. But now its entire narrative is being woven around the events and characters of Ramcharitmanas. Not only Kejriwal, but all the other leaders of his party are also working in the same way. For example, Delhi’s new Chief Minister Atishi has described herself as Bharat. When she took over as the Chief Minister, she kept the chair on which Kejriwal used to sit as the Chief Minister vacant. Atishi placed another chair next to that chair and sat there and said that she will rule like Bharat. That is, just like Bharat ruled Ayodhya for 14 years wearing wooden sandals, Atishi will do the same. That is, she is Bharat and in this sense Kejriwal is Ram. BJP has objected to this.
Earlier, when Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail after spending several months in jail in the case of alleged scam related to liquor policy, he too had said that he will go into exile like Ram. That is, Kejriwal himself had earlier set the stage that if he resigns, it should be considered as exile and the person who becomes the Chief Minister in his place should rule by wearing wooden sandals. So, Atishi took that message and by making Kejriwal Ram, she herself became Bharat. Kejriwal did not stop at this after being released from jail, he also described his resignation as similar to Sita’s Agni Pariksha. That is, he is not only like Lord Ram, but also like Sita, who is having to undergo Agni Pariksha on false allegations. Along with Ram, Sita and Bharat, Hanuman ji is also an essential part of Kejriwal’s political narrative. Be it elections, birthday, release from jail, Kejriwal goes to Hanuman temple located in Connaught Place, Delhi on every occasion. Once his party had even started the recitation of Hanuman Chalisa every Tuesday in the whole of Delhi. However, later his enthusiasm decreased a bit.
