Discussion of outsiders and insiders in Jammu and Kashmir

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has now started raising any issue to win elections in the same way as the current leadership of BJP or the leaders of regional parties do. Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah or any other BJP leader has no problem in creating a communal narrative or Mamata Banerjee had no problem in raising the issue of Bengali identity, Rahul Gandhi has no problem in raising divisive issues. That is why he raised the issue of outsiders and insiders in Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul said that instead of the people of the state, outsiders are deciding about them. Think, in case of imposition of President’s rule in any state, where does the person decide? Rahul is opposing the imposition of President’s rule in the state or taking away the status of the state, that is right in its place but there is no need to create a narrative of outsiders and insiders on this pretext.

Keep in mind that this is not the first time that President’s rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir. President’s rule was often imposed during Congress governments too. Even now, the record of the longest continuous President’s rule is from 1990 to 1996. President’s rule was imposed for six years and 264 days, in which five years were of Congress rule and a little more than one and a half years were of Congress-supported government. Even then, all decisions were taken from Delhi. Even after Rahul Gandhi entered active politics, in 2008, when the PDP government withdrew support from Ghulam Nabi Azad’s government, President’s rule was imposed for about six months. Apart from Jammu and Kashmir, President’s rule was imposed in other states of the country during Congress rule. For example, in Jharkhand, from January 2009 to July 2013, in the four and a half years, Congress had imposed President’s rule for about two years and all decisions were being taken by so-called outsiders from Delhi.
