Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the UN General Assembly on Friday, emphasizing his commitment to fighting Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. He used two maps to illustrate his points, labeling one as a “Blessing” and the other as a “Curse.”
The “Curse” map highlighted Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen in black, representing what Netanyahu described as an “arc of terror” created by Iran. He claimed this arc disrupts international trade and brings suffering to millions. In contrast, the “Blessing” map showed Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and India in green, symbolizing hope and potential cooperation.
Netanyahu explained that this “Blessing” map indicates a partnership between Israel and its Arab neighbors, which could connect Asia and Europe through new railways, energy pipelines, and internet lines, benefiting 2 billion people. He warned that if Iran’s aggression continues unchecked, it could pose a threat not just to Israel but to every country in the Middle East and beyond.
While displaying both maps, Netanyahu stated, “One shows a hopeful future, while the other represents despair.” He accused Iran of spreading its radical views globally, funding terrorist groups, and developing missiles to threaten world security.
During his speech, Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s resolve to weaken Hezbollah and ensure the safety of its citizens. He concluded by saying he wanted to clarify misconceptions about Israel that have been circulating.
This speech highlighted Netanyahu’s view of regional security and Israel’s role in fostering peace and stability in the face of threats.
