Kanpur. Bangladesh scored 233 runs in the first innings of Kanpur Test against India. During this time, Mominul Haque registered his name in the pages of history on Monday. Mominul became the second Bangladeshi batsman to score a Test century on Indian soil during the rain-affected second Test at the Green Park Stadium. He played a century innings of 107 not out off 172 balls. The 35-year-old left-handed batsman hit 16 fours and one six. He completed his 13th Test century with a sweep off Ravichandran Ashwin and became the second Bangladeshi player after Mushfiqur Rahim to score a century in India. Two and a half days of play was missed due to rain and Mominul started the day well, leading the innings again on the fourth day. However, he did not get support from other batsmen but he was successful in taking the team to a respectable score.
His century not only kept Bangladesh in the match but also highlighted his important role in the team. Mominul, playing his 65th Test match, has scored more than 4,200 runs at an average of over 37. With 13 centuries and 19 half-centuries, he is now Bangladesh’s fourth-highest run-scorer in Tests behind stalwarts like Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan. In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets for India. Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep took 2-2 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja got 1 wicket. With this, Jadeja’s 300 test wickets have been completed.
