Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets each and bowled out Bangladesh for 146 runs in just 47 overs in the second innings on Tuesday, the fifth and last day of the second Test. India has got the target of 95 runs in 62 overs to win. Bangladesh had lost only one wicket till drinks in the first session on the last day, but in the second session the Indian bowlers took seven wickets. Apart from the pair of Jadeja and Bumrah, Akash Deep also took the important wicket of Shadman (50) as he was playing after scoring a half-century. However, India have got a target of 95 runs to clean sweep the series 2-0 with two sessions left in the match. It was another exciting session and India won it easily. Ashwin struck early and dismissed first innings centurion Mominul Haq (2) cheaply.
Shadman Islam and captain Nazmul Shanto showed good resistance; Mixing caution and aggression and scored a 50 plus partnership in a short space of time. But the Bangladesh captain’s wrong reverse sweep against Jadeja led to the fall of wickets. They reached 94/7 from 91/3 after Jadeja dismissed three and Akash Deep dismissed Shadman. Bumrah made a comeback and took some wickets and restricted the visiting team to 146 runs in the second innings. Bumrah took three wickets for 17 runs in 10 overs, Ashwin took three wickets for 50 runs in 15 overs and Jadeja played an important role in defeating Bangladesh by taking three wickets for 34 runs in 10 overs. Akash Deep got one wicket for 20 runs in eight overs.
