Diwali 2024 date: The festival season has started. Shardiya Navratri, the festival of worship of Goddess Durga, is going on. After this there is a long line of festivals. Now when we are talking about festivals, we will definitely talk about our biggest festival, Diwali. There is confusion among people regarding the date of Diwali this year. There is doubt regarding the date of Diwali i.e. 31st October or 1st November. Astrologers across the country have held meetings on this topic several times and have always reached different decisions.

So far three meetings of astrologers have been held on this topic whether Diwali should be celebrated on 31st October or 1st November. But still all the scholars have not been able to agree. Due to this, a situation has arisen in the country to celebrate Diwali for two days. The pundits of Kashi say that the auspicious time for Diwali and Lakshmi puja is on 31st October, hence it is being advised to celebrate the festival on this date only.

When is Diwali in Rajasthan

The Astronomy Center of Kolkata, which prepares the country’s national almanac, has fixed the date of Diwali as 31 October. The same date has been mentioned in the calendars of the Government of India and MP, UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh.

Diwali will be celebrated on 31st October in Dwarka and Tirupati, while Diwali will be celebrated on 1st November in Ayodhya, Rameshwaram and ISKCON temples. Diwali will be celebrated on October 31 in Kashi, Ujjain, Mathura-Vrindavan, Nathdwara and Tirupati, while Diwali will be celebrated on November 1 in the temples of Ayodhya, Rameshwaram and Nimbarka sect.

According to the report of Dainik Bhaskar, astrologers have their own arguments for both the dates, due to which Diwali is being celebrated for two days across the country. According to the astrologers of Kashi and Ujjain, there is no tradition of worshiping Lakshmi on Pratipada, hence Diwali should be celebrated on 31st October.

Astrological and mythological reasons for celebrating October 31st

Amavasya Tithi will start at 4 pm on 31st October and will end at 6 pm the next day. Evening time (Pradosh time) and night time will remain in Amavasya only. For this reason, Deepotsav should be celebrated only on 31st. Diwali is a festival celebrated in the evening and night. In both these times, Amavasya Tithi will remain on 31st October. Decisions deciding Teej-Festival: Sindhu and Religion According to Sindhu Granth, on the day when there is Pradosh Kaal (Sandhya Kaal) and Amavasya at night, then lamp donation and Lakshmi puja should be done. This is happening only on 31st October. According to astrologers from Indore and other places, the date of the festival is decided by sunrise, there will be Amavasya throughout the day on 1st November, celebrate Diwali on this day.

Reasons to celebrate November 1st

1. Amavasya Tithi will remain till 6 pm on 1st November, hence some astrologers including Indore believe that Lakshmi Puja should be performed on this date as there is Amavasya throughout the day.
2. Some astrologers believe that when there are two days of Amavasya Tithi, then Diwali should be celebrated on the next day.
3. There will be Amavasya on 31st October with Chaturdashi date. Chaturdashi Tithi is considered as Rikta Tithi. Therefore it is not suitable for Lakshmi worship. Diwali worship will be best in the new moon day of Pratipada on 1st November.
