Modi and government neutral

The Indian government has a neutral stance on the ongoing war in West Asia. An appeal for peace is being made on its behalf but it is avoiding becoming a direct party in this. India also maintained silence on the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in the Israeli attack. No statement has been issued by the Government of India. However, soon after this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Nasrallah was confirmed dead on Saturday, 28 August. Two days later, on Monday, September 30, Prime Minister Modi spoke to Netanyahu.

Giving information about this telephonic conversation, Modi himself said that he talked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the recent developments in West Asia. Emphasized that there is no place for terrorism in our world. Prime Minister Modi said- It is important to stop regional tension and ensure the safe release of all hostages. In this conversation on Monday, PM Modi did not mention any specific incident. Everyone knows that just two days before this, Israel had launched a major attack on Hezbollah’s positions in Lebanon after Hamas.

Even before this, India’s stance has been neutral. On September 19, a resolution regarding Israel was passed in the United Nations but India did not participate in the voting on it. On September 19, the United Nations General Assembly voted on a resolution demanding that Israel end its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory without any delay within 12 months. India did not participate in this voting.

However, the government is silent about Nasrallah’s death or the remaining war but the BJP reacted sharply. Instead of the death of Nasrallah, a statement was given by the BJP regarding the protests over his death. BJP criticized such demonstrations and expressions of condolence. BJP spokespersons said that those in India who are beating their chests over the death of Nasrallah in Lebanon maintain silence on the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. State BJP leaders also objected and gave statements when PDP and National Conference leaders did not mourn and campaign in Kashmir.
