PDP ready for alliance with Congress, NC

Srinagar. According to the results of exit polls after the end of voting in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, while in Haryana Congress alone is expected to get absolute majority, in Jammu and Kashmir Congress and National Conference are expected to lag behind in majority despite their lead. As soon as the exit poll data came in, the movement for a new alliance in the state has intensified. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s party PDP has indicated coordination with Congress and National Conference. Mehbooba Mufti had also given such a hint before the elections.

After the exit poll data came on Saturday, PDP leader Zuhaib Yusuf Mir said that the party is ready to form an alliance with the National Conference and Congress to keep the BJP out of power. He said that he does not give much importance to the exit poll data but knows that PDP will play an important role in forming the government. Regarding this statement of PDP leader, Farooq Abdullah said- Congratulations to him. His thinking is good, we are all on the same path. We have to end hatred and keep Jammu and Kashmir together.

Earlier, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah expressed happiness over Congress and National Conference getting lead in exit poll projections and said that NC and Congress seem to be forming the government together. After PDP indicated to join the alliance, he said – PDP is ready to join us, this is a very good thing. Farooq Abdullah did not comment on the exit poll data but said that he knew that in the actual election results, National Conference and Congress will form the government together.

It is noteworthy that in the exit poll data released on Saturday, most of the media groups have given lead to National Conference and Congress. In five out of ten exit polls, a coalition government of both the parties is being formed, while in five it seems to be 10 to 15 seats away from the majority. BJP is expected to get an average of 30 seats. PDP may get 10 seats and others may get 10 seats.

Before the elections, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti had also hinted at an alliance. He released the party’s manifesto on 24 August. During this, on the question of support from Congress and National Conference, he had said – The alliance between the two parties is being formed on seat sharing, and not on agenda. If both the parties accept the agenda of our party then we are ready for alliance. We have only one agenda, solution to the problem of Jammu and Kashmir.
