New Delhi. To deal with the problem of Naxalism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of eight states on Monday. Chief Ministers of eight Naxal affected states attended the meeting held at Vigyan Bhawan. Amit Shah praised Chhattisgarh for its efforts to end Naxalism. He said that since January till now, 194 Naxalites have been killed in Chhattisgarh, 801 have been arrested and 742 have surrendered.

In the meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to the Naxalite youth to give up their weapons and join the mainstream. He gave the example of 13 thousand youth of North-East and Jammu and Kashmir, who have left the path of violence. Amit Shah said that the incidents of Naxalism related violence have reduced from 16,463 to 77 hundred. This number will reduce further next year. He said there has been a 70 percent reduction in deaths of civilians and security forces.

Amit Shah claimed – The number of districts reporting violence has decreased from 96 to 42, while the number of police stations reporting Naxalite violence has decreased from 465 to 171, out of which 50 police stations are new. That means only 120 police stations are reporting violence. It is being told that the Home Ministry is preparing a big plan with the states against the Naxalites.
