Soon after the results of Haryana Assembly elections, Congress rejected it and said that it cannot accept it. After this, Congress started collecting complaints from different districts. First Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Kheda said that complaints are being collected and after that the party’s supreme leader Rahul Gandhi also wrote on social media platform X that Congress is receiving complaints from everywhere, which are being collected. Congress has started formally submitting these complaints to the Election Commission. A high profile delegation of Congress had gone to the Election Commission, which included Bhupendra Singh Hooda along with organization general secretary KC Venugopal and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Congress will submit further complaints also.
It is a different matter that the Election Commission is not going to provide any solution to his complaints. The Election Commission had already termed Congress’s allegation that the EVM batteries were 99 percent charged as absurd and after that, just like Congress’ rival party, the Election Commission said that Congress’s defeat is the will of the people. That is, the public has defeated the Congress, hence it should stop questioning the election process. Think, when the Commission is already so prejudiced, then it has nothing to gain from the complaint. Congress is wasting its time and also making fun of itself.
Informed sources of Congress say that the party is preparing to lodge complaints from the candidates with the District Election Officer in every district. It is noteworthy that in an important decision, the Supreme Court has given the facility that the candidates who stood second and third in any election can file a complaint with the District Election Officer within a week of the results. On the complaint of the candidates, a team of engineers will examine the EVMs. The cost of investigation will have to be borne by the challenging candidate. However, in this also only EVMs will be tested. But if engineers detect any tampering in EVMs, then the option of counting all the VVPAT slips can also be tried. However, the Supreme Court had rejected the petition for 100% counting of VVPAT slips. But there is a gray area in the decision that what will happen after that if any tampering is detected in the EVMs? However, Congress claims that there are maximum complaints in three districts, so at least testing of EVMs can be requested in those districts.
