Jaishankar reached Pakistan for SCO meeting

New Delhi. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has reached Pakistan to participate in the meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He is the first Indian leader to visit Pakistan in the last nine years. Pakistan, which is hosting the SCO meeting, had sent an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the meeting of Heads of States. But due to tension in the relations between the two countries, the Foreign Minister has gone to participate in the meeting instead of the Prime Minister. He has also already said that he is not going to improve relations with Pakistan. Neither country has requested for bilateral talks.

However, after the news of the Foreign Minister going to Pakistan instead of the Prime Minister, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif had said in an interview – It would have been better if Modi had come to attend the SCO meeting, I hope that I will meet him soon. It is noteworthy that after becoming Prime Minister for the first time, Narendra Modi suddenly went to Nawaz Sharif’s house in Lahore. After that, after several incidents on the border, there was a lot of tension in the relations between the two countries.

That’s why Jaishankar has gone to Pakistan instead of the Prime Minister. He has already said that the only purpose of going to Pakistan is the SCO meeting, he will not discuss the relations between the two countries. Apart from India, representatives of 10 countries including Russia and China will attend the SCO meeting. In view of this meeting, a lockdown has been imposed in Islamabad. Also, holiday has been declared for three days in the entire city.
