New Delhi. In the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, India has given a blunt message to both host Pakistan and China. Without naming Pakistan, India said that terrorism and trade cannot go together. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who attended the SCO meeting, did not take the name of China but said that all countries should respect the borders of neighboring countries.
Not only this, India once again refused to accept China’s Belt and Road Initiative i.e. BRI project. India has had the same stand regarding this project earlier also. This time also India opposed it. Without naming it, Jaishankar said that such projects affect the sovereignty of countries. He also talked about increasing debt due to such projects. Apart from India, all SCO countries like Russia, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan supported this project.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, while addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting in Islamabad, said that terrorism and trade cannot go together. Without naming Pakistan and China, he said that all countries need to respect each other’s borders. The Foreign Minister said that if there has been a decline in friendship among the SCO member countries and relations with neighbors have deteriorated, then it should be considered. He said- If there has been a decline in trust between us, then we need to look within ourselves and understand the reason for it.
Earlier, while opening the SCO meeting, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had said that Pakistan wants peace, security and economic progress. He indirectly hit out at India for not supporting China’s Belt and Road Initiative and said such big projects should not be viewed from a narrow political perspective. In a way, he appealed to India to support it but India did not pay attention to it.
