kartik month: The special month of Teej-festivals i.e. Kartik month is starting from 18th October. Major festivals like Karva Chauth, five-day Deepotsav, Chhath Puja, Devuthani Ekadashi-Tulsi Vivah, and Kartik Purnima will be celebrated in this month.

During this period, 15 days will be filled with fasts and festivals. The month of Kartik will end on 15th November, making the entire month rich with religious and cultural festivals.

October 20, Sunday: This day is Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. Karva Chauth fast is observed on this day. On this day, women observe waterless fast for the long life of their husbands. In the evening, she completes her fast by offering Arghya to the moon.

October 24, Thursday: Ahoi Ashtami fast will be observed. On this day, mothers fast for the long life of their children. This fast lasts from sunrise to sunset only. After the stars are visible in the sky, the fast is completed by worshiping Ashtami Devi.

October 28, Monday: This day is Rama Ekadashi and Govatsa Dwadashi. Lord Vishnu is worshiped and fast is observed on both these dates. Lord Vishnu, Mahalakshmi and Tulsi should be worshiped in the evening.

October 29, Tuesday: Dhanteras will be celebrated on this day. Gold, silver and utensils are purchased on this day. Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurveda, will be worshiped in the evening. This time the 6-day festival of Deepotsav is starting with Dhanteras.

30 October, Wednesday: There will be Roop Chaturdashi festival. On this day, there is a tradition of getting up before sunrise and applying ointment and taking a bath with the holy water. Whereas in the evening, a lamp is donated to Yama.

31 October, Thursday: Lakshmi Puja will be held on this day as it is the new moon day of Kartik month. On this day, there is a tradition of decorating houses and shops and lighting lamps with sesame oil in the evening.

November 1, Friday: There will be a new moon day for bathing and charity. Taking bath by mixing Ganga water in water on this day in the morning will give you the virtue of taking a pilgrimage. On this day, Shraddha-Tarpan will also be performed for the ancestors.

November 2, Saturday: The festival of Govardhan Puja will be celebrated on this day. On this day Govardhan Parvat is worshiped along with Shri Krishna.

November 3, Sunday: Bhai Dooj will be celebrated on this day. It is believed that on this date Yamraj reaches his sister Yamuna’s house to meet her. Special worship of Lord Yamraj and Yamuna should be done on this day.

November 5, Tuesday: Angarak Chaturthi fast will be observed. The four-day Chhath Mahotsav will start from this day.

7 November, Thursday: This day is Shashthi Tithi. On this day, Arghya will be offered to the setting sun. There is a tradition of offering Arghya to the rising sun the next day.

10th November, Sunday: Akshay Navami fast will be observed on this day. On this day, there is a tradition of worshiping the Amla tree and eating food sitting under that tree. This fast is also called Amla Navami.

November 12, Tuesday: It is Devuthani Ekadashi. On this day Tulsi Vivah is performed with Lord Shalagram. It is believed that on this date Lord Vishnu wakes up after four months of Yoga Nidra.

14 November, Thursday: This day is Vaikuntha Chaturdashi. There is a belief regarding this date that on this day Lord Shiva again hands over the responsibility of creation to Lord Vishnu and Lord Vishnu will start governing the creation.

November 15, Friday: This day is Dev Diwali. On this day, lamps are donated on the banks of pilgrimage rivers. Guru Nanak Jayanti is also celebrated on this day. This will be the last day of Kartik month.
