Srinagar. The death toll in the terrorist attack in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir increased to seven on Monday. Another person injured in this attack died in the hospital. Officials said that the attack took place on Sunday on a camp of workers of a private company in Gagangir area, in which seven people lost their lives. Those killed included locals and outsiders who were working on building a tunnel between Gagangir and Sonamarg so that the road from Srinagar to Sonamarg would remain open in all weather conditions. Those killed include: Faheem Nasir (Security Manager, Bihar), Angil Shukla (Mechanical Manager, Madhya Pradesh), Mohammad Hanif (Bihar), Dr. Shahnawaz (Budgam, Kashmir), Kaleem (Bihar), Shashi Abrol (Designer , Jammu) and Gurmeet Singh (Rigar, Gurdaspur, Punjab). Five injured are undergoing treatment at Super Specialty SKIMS Hospital, Srinagar. Security forces have cordoned off the area and started an operation to search for the terrorists. The attack took place at 8:15 pm on Sunday night. This attack was carried out on innocent people who were working on an important project which will keep Sonamarg open in all seasons and will provide employment to hundreds of local people.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on social media platform ‘X’ that I strongly condemn this cowardly terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Gangangir, Jammu and Kashmir. Those involved will not be spared and strict action will be taken by the security forces. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said, I strongly condemn this despicable terrorist attack on civilians in Gangangir. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the attack and called it a cowardly and despicable act by terrorists. He said the number of workers injured in the Gagangir attack is not final yet, as some local and outside workers have been injured. We pray for the full recovery of all the injured.
