Need to restore trust from China

New Delhi. A day after India and China reached an agreement on reducing tensions and patrolling issues, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that he first wants to restore trust. However, he called this agreement a good step. Army Chief said- First of all both the countries will have to build trust again. For this it is necessary for the soldiers to see each other and talk to each other. He said that the right environment for this will be provided through patrolling.

It is noteworthy that India and China had agreed on patrolling a day earlier on October 21. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Monday that both the countries have agreed on the issue of reducing tension and patrolling after several rounds of military commanders and diplomatic level talks. Later, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also gave information about this and said that this will bring back the situation before May 2020. This is positive.

A day after this, on Tuesday, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said – We are in the process of regaining trust. This will take time. Withdrawal of armies and buffer zone management are also important for this. How do we build trust? He said- When we will be able to listen to each other and satisfy each other. We will be able to express confidence that we will go into the buffer zones that have been created. Patrolling will make it easier for you to do this process. Both sides will get a chance to convince each other. General Dwivedi said- Once trust is established then the next step will be taken.

Earlier on Monday, it was reported that India and China agreed to restore the April 2020 situation on the Line of Actual Control i.e. LAC. This means that now the Chinese army will withdraw from those areas where it had encroached. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said on Monday that a proposal has been prepared to resolve the issues arising after 2020 with patrolling in the border areas of India and China. Both countries will take steps on this.
