on the way to solution

At present the agreement is that Indian forces in Depsang and Demchok will be able to patrol till that point, As far as June 2020 Used to go till. This is not a complete solution, Still welcome. This provides a way forward.

Both the countries have taken important steps towards resolving the four and a quarter year long standoff between India and China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh sector. Although this is the first step, it is still a clear sign of change in the attitude of both the countries. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced on Monday, a day before the start of the BRICS Plus summit, that both the countries have agreed to withdraw their forces in Depsang and Demochok, the two remaining conflict sites.

However, India is demanding that China should withdraw the unusual deployment of army on the entire LAC after April 2020. After that both the countries should move towards improving relations. But currently the agreement is that Indian forces in Depsang and Demchok will be able to patrol to the point where they used to go before the violent clash in Galwan Valley in June 2020. There will be some conditions attached to this patrolling also. One of these is that both the countries will inform each other before going there for patrolling. While this is not a complete solution, it is still welcome. This provides a way forward.

Apart from this, favorable conditions will also be created for cooperation in the fields of economic and geo-politics. The impact of tensions between big countries like India and China was clearly visible on emerging forums like BRICS Plus and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. It is hoped that such platforms, which are becoming the voice of the Global South, will now be able to avoid that impact. An indication of this can be seen from the BRICS Plus summit that has started in Kazan city of Russia. Apart from this, the country will also be able to get relief from the additional burden on the Indian treasury due to excessive deployment on LAC. By the way, it is said that every step taken by countries with which there are tense relations should be trusted only after complete verification. India still needs to exercise this caution.
