Along with the assembly elections of two states, by-elections are being held in many states of the country. A very interesting trend is being seen in these by-elections. At most places, parties are fielding only relatives of leaders as candidates. By-elections are being held on four seats in Bihar, where Prashant Kishor’s Jansuraj Party is also contesting against the NDA and ‘India’ block. For the first time, Prashant Kishor is contesting as his party’s candidate. Earlier he used to contest elections for other parties. However, there was a fly in his very first mouthful. On the Tarari seat, he had nominated Lieutenant General SK Singh, former Deputy Chief of the Indian Army, as his candidate, but later it was revealed that he was not a voter from Bihar.
Despite this setback, there is a chance for Prashant Kishor in the Bihar by-elections because both the alliances have expressed confidence in the relatives of the leaders. RJD has given ticket to his son Vishwanath Yadav on the seat vacant after Surendra Yadav becoming MP. On this seat, JDU has given ticket to Manorama Devi from NDA and Bindi is Yadav’s wife. So, his brother Ajit Singh has got the ticket on the seat vacated by Sudhakar Singh, MP from Buxar. Similarly, on behalf of NDA, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has given ticket to his daughter-in-law on Imamganj seat, while on Tarari seat, BJP has made the son of former MLA Sunil Pandey a candidate. In comparison to these, Prashant Kishor is fielding candidates with a clean image by getting people to vote in the constituency. He made mathematics professor Khilafat Hussain a candidate in the battle of the strongmen in Belangaj.
