Wayanad. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi addressed a public meeting in Angapuzha, Wayanad on Tuesday. During this, he praised the people of Wayanad and said that the history of the people here is very rich, you have fought against the British. Priyanka Gandhi targeted the central government. He said that in the last ten years we have seen complete disregard towards the people. Modi’s policies benefit only his big business friends and not the common citizens. There is no sympathy towards the farmers, who were promised Minimum Support Price (MSP) but never got it. Tribal people are being attacked across the country, their lands are being handed over to big businessmen. Unemployment is at its peak and despite promises there is no sign of a medical college. The GST system is also hurting small businesses. Addressing the rally, Priyanka said, “I know the history of Wayanad very well. The people of Wayanad have always stood for what is right. Your history is very rich, you have fought against the British and have continuously lived in harmony like brothers and sisters.
It reflects the teachings of the gurus of all religions and the values that guided our freedom movement. He further said that when India got independence, it was based on the principles of love, truth, equality, justice and secularism, which are the foundation of our Constitution. Even after decades, our fight continues to preserve these values. Priyanka had addressed an election rally in Meenangadi a day earlier. During this he had said that you know in which era we are living. There is a BJP government at the centre, where fear, distrust and anger are spread among various communities. You have seen attacks on minorities, what happened in Manipur? You have seen time and again how this government spreads hatred and anger in a concerted, planned manner. The values of our Constitution are being continuously violated.
