The wait for Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who retired from the post of Union Home Secretary, is getting longer. It was reported that in his retirement party, Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself had said that he should enjoy leave for a few days, after which he has to take up a bigger responsibility. But big responsibility is not visible yet. Meanwhile, the country’s Comptroller and Auditor General Girish Murmu is going to retire in November. After him, Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das will retire in December.
Shaktikanta Das became the Governor of RBI in 2018 and got two terms of three years each. Now there is no possibility of getting a new term. Similarly, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba is also retired. The question is what will the government give to all these people? Will I get any responsibility or not? Be it Rakesh Asthana, who retired from the post of Delhi Police Commissioner, or Amitabh Kant, who retired from NITI Aayog, very few people are able to achieve anything after retirement. So, what happens to Bhalla, Gauba, Murmu and Das remains to be seen.
