SrinagarThe first session of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is starting from Monday. Earlier on Sunday, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called a meeting of the legislature party, in which the speaker was discussed. Congress, CPM, Aam Aadmi Party and independent MLAs attended this meeting. It is noteworthy that the National Conference won the assembly elections held after 10 years and formed the government. It decided that senior National Conference MLA Abdul Rahim Rather would be the speaker in the new government. Sunil Sharma of BJP will be the leader of opposition. For the first time, BJP will sit as the main opposition party in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
However, Rather has become MLA for the seventh time and is the oldest MLA in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly. His name has been finalized and the speaker will be formally elected at 10:30 am on Monday. After this there will be the address of the Lieutenant Governor. However, the upcoming strategy and plans of the Abdullah government can also be discussed in Sunday’s meeting. All the National Conference MLAs have also been called in the meeting.
It is being told that Abdullah government can give the post of Deputy Speaker to BJP. However, till now no information related to this has been given to BJP by the government. On the other hand, in the meeting of BJP MLAs on Sunday, Sunil Sharma was elected the leader of the legislative party. He will be the leader of opposition in the assembly. Whereas Sat Sharma has been made the state BJP president. It is noteworthy that after Omar Abdullah took oath as the Chief Minister, there have been six terrorist attacks in the state. Six terrorists including Lashkar commander have been killed. And three soldiers have also been martyred. Besides this, eight non-Kashmiri laborers have also died. This issue may arise in the first session of the Assembly.
