Nagpur. Before the assembly elections to be held in Maharashtra on November 20, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Nagpur on Wednesday. During this, he reached Deekshabhoomi and offered floral tributes to the statue of Gautam Buddha. Congress shared some pictures related to Rahul Gandhi’s Nagpur visit on its official account on social media platform X. Congress wrote, “Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes at the statue of Lord Buddha at Deekshabhoomi, the world famous Buddhist stupa in Nagpur. We will establish justice in the country only by following the right path shown by Lord Buddha. Along with Rahul Gandhi, officials of Deekshabhoomi Memorial Committee including Mukul Wasnik, Nana Patole, Ramesh Chennithala were present. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is starting his election campaign for the Maharashtra Assembly elections from Nagpur. Here he will participate in the Constitutional Conference. After this Rahul will attend a public meeting in Mumbai.
A big reason for Rahul Gandhi to start his campaign from Nagpur is that the headquarters of RSS is located here and it is here that Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar had adopted Buddhism in the year 1956. Nagpur falls in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Of the 76 constituencies where there is a direct contest between the BJP and Congress in Maharashtra, 36 seats fall in the Vidarbha region. BJP has fielded maximum 47 candidates in Vidarbha. There was a time when Vidarbha was a traditional stronghold of the Congress, but later the party lost its hold on the region. Congress performed well in this area in the Lok Sabha elections. The Congress had won four of the 10 parliamentary seats in the region. Indie Coalition won seven Lok Sabha seats, while Mahayuti could win only three seats. Let us tell you that voting for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20, while the results will be declared on November 23.
