New Delhi. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Thursday, three days after framing of charges in the case of rape and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital on August 9. The Supreme Court has asked the CBI to tell the status of the case. The court has sought a status report within four weeks to give the latest situation. The court has also refused to transfer the hearing of the case to any other state. During the hearing, when it was said that the people of West Bengal have lost faith in the judiciary, the Chief Justice also expressed displeasure over this.
However, during the hearing on the petition related to the safety of doctors, a lawyer told the court that the Central Government has filed the report of the National Task Force. The Supreme Court directed the Central Government to send a copy of the report of this task force to all the lawyers associated with the case, all the states and union territories. After this, all the petitioners and Chief Secretaries of the states should give their suggestions on this. The court has given three weeks’ time for this. Earlier on November 4, the Sealdah Court of West Bengal had framed charges against Sanjay Roy, the main accused of rape and murder. The case will be heard daily from November 11.
