Income tax raid on the premises of Hemant Soren's personal secretary

Ranchi. Income Tax teams have started raids on Saturday morning at several locations of Sunil Srivastava, personal secretary of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and people related to him. According to sources, this action is being taken on the basis of information regarding illegal cash flow and transfer of funds through hawala during elections. Income Tax teams have started a simultaneous search operation since morning at the Ashoknagar residence of CM’s private secretary Sunil Srivastava and his wife in Ranchi, along with family members and business and industrial establishments in Jamshedpur amid heavy security. Overall, investigation has started at about 15 locations. Sunil Shrivastava has been the personal secretary of CM Hemant Soren for a long time. He was earlier an engineer in a government department. Later he left the job and started working as an associate of Hemant Soren.

He is also a member of the Central Committee of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and a star campaigner of the party. Before this, the Income Tax Department had raided 35 business and industrial premises in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Giridih and Kolkata for two days on October 26 on information about money transactions with the help of Hawala in the assembly elections. Benami assets worth Rs 150 crore and investment related documents were seized from the hideout of these businessmen. The Income Tax Department, after matching the cash found during the raid with the books of accounts of the traders, seized Rs 70 lakh and deposited it in the bank.
