Islamabad. On the morning of Saturday, October 9, a bomb exploded at Pakistan’s Quetta railway station, killing 26 people. More than 50 people have been injured in the blast. According to Pakistani media reports, the terrorist group Baloch Liberation Army or BLA has taken responsibility for the attack. A BLA spokesperson said the suicide attack was carried out by the Majeed Brigade unit.
Their target was the soldiers of Militant Infantry School, who were about to go to Peshawar by Jafar Express after completing the course. Officials said many of the injured passengers died in hospital. Quetta Civil Hospital spokesperson Wasim Baig told Pakistani newspaper ‘The Dawn’ that among those killed were 14 army personnel and 12 civilians.
On the other hand, officials have not confirmed that BLA is behind this attack. He said that in the initial investigation it seems to be a suicide blast. According to the report of Pakistani news website ‘Tribune Express’, this accident happened just before Jafar Express reached the platform. A senior Quetta police officer said that the train was to leave for Peshawar at 9 o’clock. Passengers were waiting for the train at the time of the accident. He said that there were more than a hundred people on the platform at the time of the blast.
