Life getting entangled with the screen

Nitesh Tiwari who is making ‘Ramayan’ with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash will be made in two parts and the first part will be released in 2026. But Rohit Shetty has also presented his part of Ramayana in the form of ‘Singham Again’. His film has a story like Ramayana. By showing the scenes of Ramayana being staged, it has been explained that the role of which artist is the form of which character of Ramayana. In this film there is terrorism, nationalism, Pakistan, Muslims and new Kashmir, where stone pelting has now stopped. What else do the new audiences of New India want?

After the defeat of Circus, Rohit Shetty has again returned to his cop universe. ‘Singham Returns’, ‘Simmba’ and ‘Suryavanshi’, which came after ‘Singham’, were part of this universe. The main characters of all these were police officers who can go anywhere in any movie of the universe. This time in ‘Singham Again’, apart from ‘Simmba’ i.e. Ranveer Singh and ‘Suryavanshi’ i.e. Akshay Kumar, Rohit Shetty has also added some new characters. Like Shakti Shetty (Deepika Padukone) and Satya Bal (Tiger Shroff). By the way, Jackie Shroff is also in the film and Arjun Kapoor is also there, who is the villain. The grandson of a big terrorist, who wants to avenge the death of his father and uncle and is based in Sri Lanka, kidnaps Sita, played by Kareena Kapoor. Obviously Ram i.e. Ajay Devgan along with his team sets out to bring back Sita and teach this evil person a lesson and destroy his empire. And in this campaign, Lakshman, Hanuman, Jatayu, Sugriva, Garuda etc. support him in the form of different characters. Rohit Shetty and five other people, i.e. a total of six people have written it together. Similarly, a total of four people including Rohit Shetty and Milap Jhaveri were involved in writing the dialogues. Even a song written by Swanand Kirkire has twenty singers. This is not a chorus. All of them got different lines to sing. That’s why their names are given.

At the end of the film, Chulbul Pandey i.e. Salman Khan appears in his twelve second cameo and hints at the coming together of ‘Singham’ i.e. a future ‘Chulbul Singham’ type film. Keep in mind, Chulbul Pandey is a policeman, the hero of Salman’s ‘Dabangg’ series. There were three versions of ‘Dabangg’ and after the third one was badly hit, there is no talk of the fourth version anywhere. It seems that Chulbul had no work left there, so he became a part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. The names of all the main characters of this universe start with ‘S’. Chulbul Pandey will be the first to break this sequence. The condition of Rohit Shetty is such that whichever actor he finds suitable for the role of a policeman in films, he pulls him into his universe. If Jagdish Raj and Iftikhar were alive today, perhaps they too would have been a part of this universe.

Along with this, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ was released which is the third installment of its series. It created a craze among the audience right from the first edition which featured Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Ameesha Patel and was directed by Priyadarshan. Fifteen years later, T-series brought ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ in which Kartik Aryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu got the lead roles. This 2022 film, directed by Anees Bazmee, also earned well, leading to its third edition coming out just two years later. This too is directed by Anees Bazmee. In ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, Karthik Aryan has once again become Rooh Baba i.e. a fake ghost seeker and has done so with full confidence. He had the same role in the second version also in which he seems to have fitted in perfectly. Kartik Aryan is the hero in both the subsequent editions of this series which started with Akshay Kumar. Anyway, it is believed that he is the Akshay Kumar of the future. Along with him, Trupti Dimri and Madhuri Dixit have also been given important roles and Vidya Balan, who had refused to work in the second version saying that the sequel would not work, returned in its third version after being proved wrong. Are.

‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ also has a two hundred year old Bengali mansion or palace which has a room which is always closed. The spirit of a woman named Manjulika is trapped inside who is bent on revenge. Sometimes the sound of someone singing or of Payal comes from it. ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ tells that once upon a time the king of a state named Raktoghat had burnt this woman alive. Now, two hundred years later, Trupti Dimri brings the thug Rooh Baba to this mansion by luring him with money. There he discovers new secrets. Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit’s characters go after Rooh Baba who has suspicious activities. But in the end everything changes. The huge success of ‘Stree 2’ has raised new expectations for horror comedy films in the country whereas people are already liking the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ series. That’s why despite the huge star cast of ‘Singham Again’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ is giving it competition.

The budget of ‘Singham Again’ is said to be above 300 crores whereas ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ was completed in almost half of that amount. A controversy arose over the simultaneous release of both the films on Diwali. Earlier the news came that Karthik Aryan has requested Ajay Devgan to release ‘Singham Again’ a week earlier or a week later. Ajay is also the co-producer of ‘Singham Again’. But things did not work out and both the films were released together. Then another controversy arose. The producers of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ reached CCI i.e. Competition Commission of India complaining about getting less screens. Initially the situation was that ‘Singham Again’ was getting 5723 shows in 24 hours while ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ was getting 4294 shows. T-Series demanded from CCI that both the films should be given half the screens. Perhaps the result of this was that ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ got a few more shows at 11 pm and then at 3 pm. Still his total shows remained less. Now the situation is that ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ has less screens and less shows, yet this film is giving a tough competition to ‘Singham Again’ at the box office. The way these two films are doing will definitely compensate the losses suffered by Hindi cinema this year to a great extent.

It is a different matter that the level of both these films is very light. But perhaps the Hindi audience is now preferring mediocre films only. In the last two-three years, most of the films that were considered big hits were not rated above average. Neither in the filmmaking nor in the story. Whereas the better films that came during this period were flopped. It’s clear what we as viewers are looking forward to seeing.

Well, there is a different story hidden behind the remake of both these films. The first film of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, ‘Singham’ was actually a remake of the 2010 Tamil film ‘Singham’. The remake of this Tamil film was made not only in Hindi, but also in Bengali with the name ‘Shotru’, in Kannada with the name ‘Kempe Gowda’ and then in Punjabi also with the name ‘Singham’. Then when ‘Singham Returns’ came in 2014, it was also inspired by the Malayalam film ‘Eklavyan’. After this, ‘Simmba’ of the same universe, which came in 2018, was also a remake of the 2015 Telugu film ‘Temper’. Similarly, the first ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ came in 2007 which was produced by T-Series under the direction of Priyadarshan. It was itself a remake of a Malayalam film ‘Manichitrathazhu’. After that ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ was also a remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam film ‘Geethanjali’. This means that whether it is ‘Singham’ or ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, both of them started with remakes of films in other languages, but now they have become big franchises in Hindi. We are also seeing the fifth film of Cop Universe and the third film of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ series becoming a hit. This is the illusion of remake.
