Islamabad. At least 16 people died and two were injured after a passenger coach fell into a river in Pakistan’s northern Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) region. A passenger coach carrying 26 people fell into the river in Thalichi area of ​​Diamer district on Tuesday, area spokesman Faiz Ullah Faraq said. According to the spokesperson, local people and rescue teams immediately reached the spot and started rescue operations. He succeeded in saving the lives of two people. The spokesperson said that the rescue team has taken out 16 bodies and two injured.

Apart from this, eight people are still missing. The official said that the wedding guests were going from Astore area of ​​GB region to East Chakwal district of the country through this coach, when the accident occurred. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari expressed grief over this tragic incident and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. Also directed the officials to make every effort to search for the missing people.
