Story of Rama Ekadashi

The story of Rama Ekadashi is related to King Muchukund. King Muchukund was a very religious king. He had ordered to observe Ekadashi fast in his entire state. Everyone in his kingdom used to observe fast on Ekadashi. Once Shobhan, son of King Muchukund, died. His wife Chandrabhaga prepared her husband’s body for cremation, but when she was going to put the body in the fire, she thought that if she also went with her husband, she would get salvation. That’s why he also decided to jump into the fire. (Rama Ekadashi 2024)

Then a Brahmin stopped him and told him the importance of Ekadashi fast. The Brahmin said that if she fasts on Ekadashi, she will attain salvation. Chandrabhaga agreed to the Brahmin’s advice and started fasting on Ekadashi. After some time, Lord Vishnu appeared in her dream and he blessed her that she would go to heaven with her husband.
