85 flights threatened in a day

New Delhi. The process of threatening to bomb flights of Indian airlines is not stopping. A record number of 85 flights were threatened in a single day on Thursday. According to reports, these include 20 flights of Air India, 20 of Indigo, 20 of Vistara and 25 of Akasa Airlines. Earlier, about 175 flights had received threats in 10 days, after which the Union Home Ministry and Civil Aviation Ministry announced to take several steps.

However, on Thursday, Akasa Air issued a statement saying – Today, security alert was received on some of our flights. The company’s response teams are following safety and security protocols with local authorities. Meanwhile, there is also news that on Thursday, Goa International Airport and Manohar Parrikar International Airport of Goa were put on high alert. Four flights landing at these airports had received bomb threats.

In the last 11 days, more than 250 planes have received bomb threats. Due to this, the aviation sector has suffered a loss of more than Rs 600 crore. It is noteworthy that in view of these threats, on Wednesday, October 23, the Ministry of Information and Technology had held a virtual meeting with social media platforms X, Meta and airline companies. The government had asked social media companies to ban posts containing such threats.

Earlier on October 21, Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu had said that the names of those making bomb threats on flights could be included in the no-fly list. It also said that the government is planning to amend the Aviation Security Rules and the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Civil Aviation Security Act, 1982. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, BCAS is in constant touch with the Home Ministry on this issue.
