Ever since Congress’s position in the Lok Sabha has improved and its 99 MPs won, Congress’s allies have become worried about Muslim votes. From SP and RJD to JMM, allies feel that Muslim votes may return to Congress. That’s why these parties are doing their politics keeping Muslim votes at the center. This politics is also visible in Akhilesh Yadav’s announcement of candidates in Maharashtra. When he went to visit Maharashtra, he went only to Muslim dominated areas and without talking to Congress, Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar, he unilaterally announced five candidates. All the five candidates announced by him are Muslims.
Think, Akhilesh was earlier saying that Maha Vikas Aghadi should not be declared a candidate without talking to him. But declared himself the candidate without talking. He had gone to the rally of PDA i.e. Backward, Dalit and Minority but the candidates he met to declare are all Muslims. Apart from Abu Asim Azmi, who has been leading SP in Maharashtra for years, Riyaz Azmi, Irshad Jagirdar, Raees Shaikh and Shan-e-Hind have been declared candidates. That means they have not found any backward or Dalit. Apart from these five, they are demanding seven more seats. However, if they do not get any seat apart from this, they will still throw a little tantrum but will accept that decision. He is only concerned about Muslim candidates because through them he will be able to firmly establish the image of being Muslim friendly in Uttar Pradesh.
