New Delhi. The test report of the suspected monkeypox patient has arrived and it has been confirmed that he has monkeypox. The Union Health Ministry has confirmed this on Monday, September 9. The Union Health Ministry said that a person who returned from abroad was kept in isolation on September 8 on suspicion of monkeypox. His blood sample was taken and tested, in which monkeypox strain West African Clade 2 has been confirmed. However, the ministry has said that the condition of the patient kept in isolation is fine. People who came in contact with him are being searched and they will also be tested. Meanwhile, on Monday itself, the central government issued an alert to all the states regarding this.
However, the Union Health Ministry has also said that this strain is not included in the Global Health Emergency of the World Health Organization (WHO). The strain in the Global Health Emergency is Clade One. In 2022, 30 cases of Clade Two were found. Meanwhile, Union Health Secretary Apoorva Chandra issued an advisory to all states and union territories on Monday regarding monkeypox. Chandra said – All states should take steps to prevent the threat of monkeypox. It said that the states should follow the guidelines of the Health Ministry regarding monkeypox.
In the guidelines issued by the Center, it has been said that action should be taken on the CD alert i.e. Communicable Disease Alert issued by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on monkeypox. Apart from this, the states should review the preparations of their health facilities. Senior officials have been asked to take stock of the health facilities of the districts. It is worth noting that on August 14, WHO declared monkeypox a global public health emergency. On August 20, India issued an alert at all the ports, airports of the country as well as the borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
