Almora. The death toll in the bus accident that took place in Almora, Uttarakhand on Monday has reached 36. After this horrific accident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken strict action and directed to suspend ARTO enforcement in the respective areas of Pauri and Almora. This action has been taken by CM Dhami for violation of safety standards and negligence. CM Dhami has also given instructions to provide assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to the injured. This financial assistance is aimed at providing relief to the families affected by the accident.
Apart from this, CM Dhami has also instructed the Commissioner of Kumaon Division to conduct a magisterial inquiry into this incident. Earlier, while emphasizing on giving priority to relief work, CM Dhami had said that unfortunate news has come regarding the casualties of passengers in a bus accident in Marchula of Almora district. The district administration has been instructed to carry out rapid relief and rescue operations. The local administration, along with SDRF teams are actively working to provide assistance to the families of the victims. Let us tell you that on Monday in Almora, Uttarakhand, a bus filled with passengers slipped off the road and fell into a 200 meter deep gorge. This bus was going from Garhwal to Kumaon with passengers. It is being told that at the time of the accident the bus was overloaded with passengers. According to eyewitnesses, the bus had lost control. It is being told that about 40 people were traveling in this bus. When the bus reached near Kupel village, the driver lost control and the bus met with an accident. After the accident, emergency response teams including Uttarakhand Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were immediately deployed in the area to conduct search and rescue operations. Rescue workers are busy rescuing survivors and taking the injured to the nearest medical facilities.
