New Delhi. After Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi took oath as Chief Minister on Saturday. Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena administered the oath of office and secrecy to her at Raj Niwas. After taking oath, Atishi has become the third woman Chief Minister to take oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Before Atishi, late Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dixit have been Chief Ministers. Before taking oath as CM, Atishi reached Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to meet him. Earlier on Tuesday evening, Atishi met the Lieutenant Governor at Raj Niwas along with Kejriwal and staked claim to form the government. In the Delhi government led by Atishi, senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders Gopal Rai, Mukesh Ahlawat, Imran Hussain, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Kailash Gehlot took oath as ministers. Mukesh Ahlawat is a new name in Atishi’s cabinet. The rest four have also been ministers in the Kejriwal government.
Recently, after the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi was elected the leader of the legislative party. Atishi is an MLA from Kalkaji seat and has handled the responsibility of many departments of the Delhi government. Let us tell you that Arvind Kejriwal was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court in the alleged liquor scam case of Delhi. But, many restrictions were also imposed on Kejriwal during the bail. Such as he cannot go to the Chief Minister’s office, cannot sign any file, cannot influence witnesses related to the case, cannot make any comment about the case. After coming out on bail, Kejriwal had said that if the public considers me honest and re-elects me, then I will sit on the Chief Minister’s chair. Assembly elections are to be held in Delhi next year.
