New Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is not following the path shown by her mentor Arvind Kejriwal. She has kept 13 ministries of Delhi Government with herself. She has kept all the ministries which she had as a minister including Education and PWD. On the contrary, when Kejriwal was the Chief Minister, he did not keep any department with himself. He was a Chief Minister without a department. That is why it was believed that whoever becomes the new Chief Minister will also follow the path of Kejriwal and will remain without a department. A person who knows Kejriwal closely since the time of the movement and is aware of the activities of Aam Aadmi Party told that Atishi may have had her own wish but on Kejriwal’s insistence, she kept all the ministries with herself.
Actually, Kejriwal did not want any other name to be associated with the unique tradition he had started. If the second Chief Minister also remained without a portfolio, what would have remained special in Kejriwal! That is why Atishi was asked to take charge of the ministry. Atishi also understands Kejriwal and his ego. That is why she is also accepting everything with her head bowed and is also taking Kejriwal’s blessings by touching his feet. She has coined the slogan ‘Make Kejriwal CM Again’ on the lines of Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ and has decided to turn it into a campaign. For the next four months, she does not have to do any government or political work. That work will be done by Kejriwal and his team. For the next four months, Atishi only has to prove her loyalty. She has to prove that she is running Kejriwal’s rule by keeping the wooden sandals. This is necessary so that if the government is formed again in February, she gets a place in it.
