Ottawa/New Delhi. Along with anti-India protests in Canada, attacks on temples and Hindu devotees have also intensified. Khalistan supporters attacked people who went to the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton on Sunday. The attackers had Khalistani flags in their hands. They attacked the people present in the temple with sticks and rods and chased them away. After this, the police reached the spot and beat up the devotees. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has condemned this incident of attack on the temple and Hindu devotees. He said on social media- The violence that occurred today at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton cannot be accepted. Every Canadian has the right to practice his or her religion freely and safely. Although Trudeau did not take anyone’s name. He did not even mention Khalistan supporters. The opposition parties there have criticized this.

However, there is tension in the area after the incident. Police have been deployed in large numbers. Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraippa has appealed to the public to exercise restraint. The Indian High Commission in Ottawa has also issued a statement regarding the incident. Indian High Commission said- Anti-India elements committed violence in Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton near Toronto. We are extremely concerned about the safety of Indian citizens.

Meanwhile, India has expressed concern over the incident of vandalism of the temple and assault on Hindu devotees in Brampton, Canada. In New Delhi, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said- We condemn the violence spread in the Hindu Sabha temple by fundamentalists and separatists. He said- We appeal to the Government of Canada to protect all such places of worship. We hope that those who were involved in this attack will be punished. Our consular officers, who serve Indians and Canadian citizens, are not subject to intimidation, harassment or violence.

Union Minister Ranveer Singh Bittu has also condemned the attack on Hindu temples in Canada. He said that Prime Minister Trudeau has divided the people. Bittu said- The news that has been coming for the last few days is not about any one religion. Be it Hindus, Sikhs or anyone else, Trudeau has divided everyone.
