The Maharashtra government had changed the Eid-e-Milad holiday to avoid any kind of trouble with Ganesh Visarjan. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also changed its holiday list after this change. The Maharashtra government has removed the Eid-e-Milad holiday in Mumbai from 16 September 2024 to 18 September 2024. This has been done so that there is no clash with Ganesh Visarjan. After this, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) also canceled the holiday of 16 September 2024.

What did RBI say

RBI had informed, Maharashtra government has declared 18 September 2024 as a public holiday under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Apart from Maharashtra, banks will also remain closed in Sikkim on 18 September 2024 for Pang-Lhabsol.

Banks were closed on Monday, 16 September 2024 on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad in many places across the country. These included Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

Similarly, on Tuesday, on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, banks were closed in many states including Rajasthan. In such a situation, if you are planning to visit your nearest bank branch today, then check the official list of RBI or bank branch to know whether they are open or not.
